I Counted the Cost!

I counted the cost, and put the hand to the plough
I counted the cost, and dared not look back
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

I counted the cost, though my flesh was unyielding
I counted the cost, and struck a blow to my body
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

I counted the cost, though lust seemed sweeter
I counted the cost, and cut off my hand and eye
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

I counted the cost, of unsatisfying instant gratification
I counted the cost, I couldn’t forsake an eternal love
I counted the cost, for my master demanded all!

I counted the cost, and saw the price He paid
I counted the cost, I dared not take it for granted
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

I counted the cost, thus starved my flimsy flesh
I counted the cost, and ate the scrolls sweet as honey
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

I counted the cost, for His temple must remain Holy
I counted the cost, and I too paid my small price
I counted the cost, for my Master demanded all!

This small poem was inspired by a book I read a while back
“The passionate Pursuit of Purity” Ernest Wamboye.
In one of the chapters, the author encourages us to count the cost of sexual sin. You wont believe it, he writes a list of 117 costs! Go read the book dearest reader.
Allow me to quote a small paragraph of this chapter “Count the Cost”

I don’t want to abuse God’s grace in this lifetime. I don’t want to take his mercy for granted. I want to live my life here on earth because it affects my eternity and those I love. I also don’t want to be simply motivated by the fear of the consequences. Fear and pride burn out eventually. I want the Gospel of Christ to propel me to act in love. I want to remember the cost of saving my soul from eternal damnation. I want to have a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin on that account.Ernest Wamboye, Passionate Pursuit of Purity.
