A LOVE GONE COLD?

Remember how we used to burn for Him?
…how as His bride we loved Him,
how we followed Him even through the wilderness,
in a land not sown?

Remember when He was all that mattered?
…when our hearts yearned for Him,
with a longing too deep for words –
a hunger unbeknownst to this world?

Remember your devotion to Him?
…your unwavering commitment,
how lovingly you gave all of yourself
to Him whom your soul loved?

Remember how joyfully you served Him?
…how at the altar you danced with Him,
delightfully singing pleasant melodies,
as you tended the lilies in His garden?

What fault did you find in Him?
…that you strayed so far from Him,
that you erected idols in your heart,
and bowed to what is worthless?

What crime did He commit?
…that you dug your own cisterns,
broken cisterns that hold no water,
and forsook Him ~ the spring of living water?

Yet the Lord’s heart churns within Him –
…all His compassion is aroused.
How can I give you up, little one?
How can I let you go?

Return, wayward child,” declares the LORD,
“I will frown on you no longer,
For I am faithful.
I will not be angry for ever.

Only acknowledge your guilt –
that you have forsaken your first love,
and bowed to the idols in your heart.

Would you now return to Me, little one?
Would you return to Me with all your heart?
Would you throw out those foreign gods within,
And love Me like you did at first?

Come back home little one
And I will heal your waywardness
And love you freely
For My anger has turned from you.

Child, come back home.”

With love,
